I like to watch!

Dammit! I had a great weekend! I rode to Astoria via the Hood to Coast Route, herded my kids around while my lovely wife maintained a top ten spot in the masters women 35+ series and got to see the good side of global warming as the sun kept everyone's various costumes toasty as hell during the latest edition of the crusade.
I'll say it....people that organize road events have some things to learn from Cross Crusade. I'm normally not a spectator and actually really don't like watching a bike race unless I'm in it. But being a part of the audience at Cross Crusade is better than Belgian waffles with Nutella. Oh wait, they have those at Cross Crusade too!
One of the most amazing revelations from the weekend is that I now know it's possible for Hagens to have leg speed. I watched my son keep up with kids twice his age on big bikes while he spun like a Maytag on spin cycle on his little 16" Trek. Time for a new bike, of course.
Also, my pick for best costume is Robot Guy! That should be required attire for all races! In fact, I am seeing visions of manufacturers competeing for lightest and most stylish carbon fiber robot suits...then there's the inevitable retro wool robot suit....but I digress.
